2026–27 Season Calendar
Our Black Friday Classic, the tournaments Sailor wrestlers can enter, the road to state, and the Columbus High School season. Youth tournament entries are optional — wrestle as many or as few as you like.
Practice schedule — dates and times TBD
Practice dates and times are still being finalized and are subject to change. Practices will be in the Columbus High School wrestling room, starting in November, with separate practice nights planned for grades K–4 and grades 5–8. The full schedule will be posted here as soon as it is set.
Practice schedule
Practices are Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00–7:00 PM, in the Columbus High School wrestling room, starting Monday, November 9. When there is enough interest, we will also run an advanced session in our second wrestling room at the same time. No practice Nov 25, Dec 23, Dec 28 or Dec 30. The last practice date has not been set yet, so practices are listed through early February for now.
Before your first tournament
- Iowa youth wrestling runs on two different membership cards, and they do not substitute for each other. The AAU card is required to practice with SWC and to enter AAU events (Districts, Kids State, Girls State) — buy it at aausports.org. A USA Wrestling card is required for USA Wrestling events — new for 2027 that includes Super Pee Wee State (the K–2 state tournament here in Waterloo), the Little Go-Hawk, and the USA Wrestling Kids State — buy it at usawmembership.com (the “limited folkstyle” card is enough). Each event below says which card it needs. Neither card is sold at the door. SWC recommends every wrestler carry both cards — the AAU card is still required to practice, and the USA Wrestling card keeps the K–2 state tournament, the Go-Hawk, and the open state in Cedar Rapids available to you.
- Most tournaments register through TrackWrestling (trackwrestling.com) and close a few days early. Entering at the door, where allowed, usually costs $10 more.
- For AAU Districts you must also bring a copy of your wrestler’s birth certificate (a photo on your phone is fine). The AAU card does not count as proof of age.
- Dates marked TBC are not yet confirmed by the host — check back before making plans.
